چکیده

Hepatitis caused by Bartonella henselae in adults is a condition that seldom reported the literature, as well its current incidence and prevalence. While there broad spectrum of well-defined established clinical entities, hepatic involvement represents third most frequent manifestation infection this genus bacteria. It may or not be characterized presence hepatosplenic granulomas. Diagnosis requires high level suspicion, exclusion additional etiologies, causal relationship with risk factors. Polymerase chain reaction diagnostic test highest yield, treatment varies depending on expression. We describe case an adult patient hepatitis secondary to infection.

Cryptococcemia in an HIV-negative patient with decompensated liver cirrhosis

BACKGROUND Cryptococcal infections have been mostly associated with immunocompromised individuals, 80-90% of whom have been HIV-positive patients. Increasingly, cryptococcal infections are being reported in cirrhotic patients who are HIV-negative. The underlying immunologic defects in cirrhotic patients seem to play an important role in predisposing them to cryptococcosis and affecting their mo...

Granulomatous hepatitis due to Bartonella henselae infection in an immunocompetent patient

BACKGROUND Bartonella henselae (B. henselae) is considered a rare cause of granulomatous hepatitis. Due to the fastidious growth characteristics of the bacteria, the limited sensitivity of histopathological stains, and the non-specific histological findings on liver biopsy, the diagnosis of hepatic bartonellosis can be difficult to establish. Furthermore, the optimal treatment of established he...

Evaluation of miR-101 Level in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection and Liver Cirrhosis

ABSTRACT        Background and Objective: MiRNAs are small RNAs that are expressed in most eukaryotes, and can regulate gene expression by attaching to the 3’ end of target mRNA. MicroRNA-101 (miR-101) post-transcriptional regulation is important for host-virus interactions. In addition, miR-101 has a tumor suppressive role in liver cancer and metastasis, an...
